PADI Assistant Instructor Course

As a PADI Assistant Instructor, you not only gain additional experienceas a PADI Professional scuba diver,but you also start learning the PADI System of diver education. You can act asan instructional scuba assistant and assume limited teaching responsibilities.It’s a great way to gain experience in order to become a scuba instructor!

After completion the AI program you will be familiar with the PADI system of diver education and being able to give academic, confined water and open water presentations. The PADI Assistant Instructor Course opens up new challenges as a dive professional even if not choose not to take the Open Water Scuba Instructor program. Our Assistant Instructor program runs over a four-day period.

Course Overview

The PADI Assistant Instructor program consists of

  • Formal training in conducting PADI programs and experience programs.
  • Independent study assignments.
  • Practical application sessions.
  • Written examination.
  • Small classes for more personal attention.
  • Submit proof of EFR ,CPR or any first aid training within the last 24 months.
  • Submit documentation of any equivalent certification for entry-level, advanced, rescue and leadership-level issued by another recreational diver training organization.

What you can teach

As an Assistant Instructor you can

  • Present academic elaboration for any PADI diver course – indirect supervision of an instructor.
  • Teach & Certify Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty Divers and Project AWARE – direction of an instructor.
  • Independently conduct the Discover Scuba experience.
  • Teach & Certify students in Emergency First Response (after completion of an EFR Instructor Course).
  • Teach & Certify students in a non-diving specialty, such as Equipment Specialty, after successful completion of a Specialty Instructor training Course.

AI program prerequisites

  • Certified as a PADI Dive master or hold a leadership level certification with another recreational diver trainer organization.
  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Be fit for diving and submit a medical statement for a diving medical examination conducted in the past twelve months.
  • Have been a certified diver for the last 6 months and have completed and logged at least 60 open water scuba dives and have experience in deep, night and navigation diving.
  • Submit proof of CPR and first aid training within the last 24 months.
  • Submit documentation of any equivalent certification for entry-level, advanced, rescue and leadership-level issued by another recreational diver training organization.
  • If not a PADI Divemaster, successfully complete the PADI Divemaster course diver rescue skill assessment.
